Tentative Agreement Reached

Many of you will have already heard the good news, that a tentative agreement has been reached between our bargaining team and the College Employer Council. You can read the entire message from the bargaining team in more detail here. The team is holding a town hall today at 3 PM to go over the details of the tentative agreement and return-to-work arrangements, which you can register for here

Information is still reaching us, and we appreciate your patience as the situation is still evolving quickly – but currently we have the following details.

Full-Time Support Staff should return to work tomorrow, Thursday Oct. 16.

There will be no picketing today, but there is a fair amount of work to do at Trafalgar HQ with teardown – if you are able to help at that location it would be appreciated.

The tentative agreement still needs to be ratified by membership, and the vote will be held online in a similar fashion to the strike mandate vote. We will share more details about the timing of the vote as we receive them, but you will likely be contacted at your employer email address with voting credentials sent from the Ontario Labour Relations Board.

The fight to save our colleges and positions must continue after we return and we should also keep our Part-Time colleagues in mind this week. Local 245 is at all times committed to ensuring that we are treated fairly and in accordance with our negotiated agreement. But today everyone should take a moment to feel some pride in what we all achieved with our presence on the line and the immense amount of work that was performed everywhere else to support negotiations.
